When my kids were younger, we'd fill a stocking for each with small gifts, and put them outside their bedroom doors late Christmas Eve. That way, when they woke up early and anxious for their Christmas presents, the stockings would slow them down and give mom & dad a few more minutes of sleep.

I think that is a superior tradition. Actually, we have a large German population near Austin: Fredricksberg, New Braunfels, Scherz, Boerne, and other towns with a lot of German immigrants. And German restaurants...

That's too bad. I think you'd find a lot more anti-Bush in Austin than pro-Bush. And likewise in some of the Hill Country towns. But, overall, Texas is conservative and would be more inclined to support a republican than a democrat for national office. If Bush was a democrat, he would have lost in Texas.

i thought you might like the dog. (i go away for a day and it's people chattering away. wow!)

i second MD's comments about bush. where i live there are plenty of people that agree with him, but not in austin, and not those crazy liberals that live in montrose / heights etc ...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montrose%2C_H
