Atheism is disbeleif or lack of belief in a god. It can take the form of simple ignorance of the question, a newborn is an atheist. Or it can be the staunch gnostic atheist who says I can prove there is no god.
Beyond that atheism offers no other beliefs, doctrines, or tenants.

I don't have a lot of time on the net here (gotta go catch a bus), so if you're writing a book, please wrap it up in the next few minutes :P
"For instance, you believe that science is the source of absolute truth, right?"
Science is the question, not the answer.
An atheist is only someone who disbelieves in the existence of a god. Beyond that an atheist can believe whatever he wants and still be atheist.
Also, please define absolute truth. Do you mean moral absolutes? Do you be objective epistemology?
You can be an atheist and solipsist, you can be an atheist and believe in ghost, you can be an atheist and believe in the soul. Atheism can be reached through many different ideologies. Atheism is simply the lack of belief in a god.
If I ask you, do you believe in a god, and you say anything other than yes, you are an atheist. Cut and dry.
I prefer the term secular
