Answer for: Is expressing one's opinion with a poor topic rating rather than an answer a cowardly thing to do?
#2 Kinda
It's not so much cowardly as it is lazy and a lack of ability to express yourself. This site is designed for debating topics and sharing opinions. I find it more beneficial to recieve an actual answer because it allows me to grow as a person. Sometimes we can get a little narrow minded in our ways, and I think it's important to see both sides of a topic. Topic ratings are kind of like when your parents used to tell you not to do something because "they said so." Meaning, they didn't want to bother explaining why not or they might not even know. Either way, not knowing why you believe something or being so lazy you can't explain in a brief paragraph is kinda sad.
A lot of the time, the topic ratings are misused. Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean it was "poorly said".

I kinda agree with you. Then again, that's kinda why I like the system - I get a lot more feedback on the quality of my arguments than I would otherwise, *and* can leave feedback about how I feel about a particular bit of content without having to explain myself when, for instance, the suck-a-tude of an answer / comment / topic is pretty reasonably self-evident.
Also, ditto on the "just because you don't agree..." bit.
Actually couldn't it be argued that if you don't agree with someone then their argument must be unconvincing, thus poor. Thus isn't a poor argument the same as poorly said?
Ah, devil's advocacy.
