MZB (1930-99) is a prolific sci-fi/fantasy writer, best known for Arthurian novel The Mists of Avalon and her Darkover series. Her Fantasy Magazine, Sword & Sorceress anthologies, and approval of fan fiction all served to assist and encourage new & undiscovered writers. MZB was also a proponent of women's rights, which was often reflected in her writing.
