I performed this work before a crowd of 3,000 in 1980.

Some people may think it's kinda lightweight, but I think it has substance. I remember reading that the Hungarian composer Bela Bartok was always interested in hearing of new music from the US. He thought many of the American composers of his day were awful (I hear he thought Aaron Copland was an abomination), but supposedly, he was always interested in hearing of the publication of a new Gershwin tune.
