If you've graduated from the school of life, does that mean you're dead?

That could be an even gentler way of saying that someone has passed on.

"Unfortunately John Doe has graduated from the school of life, and has gone on to pursue a career in the afterlife."

Perhaps it just means they got ultra-rich and retired early, so they have no work or worries.
