Before I moved to Texas and (much to my shock!) discovered people ACTUALLY SAYING fixin' to, if someone had asked me to use fixin' to in a sentence, it would have been: "Jethro and Elly Mae are fixin' to swim in the SEA-ment pond."
To me, this sounds so-o-o hillbilly! How can someone with a college degree living in Dallas or Houston allow himself or herself to talk like such a hick?
