And they got their sense from their parents. What is "right" and "wrong" is defined by society, for a particular time, for a particular place. There have been cultures that have encouraged cannabilsm, for example. There have been societies that have segrated people on the basis of race, religion, place of origin etc. We may not see this as right now, but the people involved did.

Sure, what specific act is right or wrong is dictated by family and culture, but the idea of right and wrong itself? Today people lacking a sense of right and wrong are called sociopaths. Nobody seems to understand what causes them to be this way.

Yeah, this answer is more of a response to "Where does ONE get his/her sense of right and wrong?" While the question seems a bit more long-reaching: What's the source of this sense?

P.S. there are a lot of reasons for sociopaths. But that's a different topic all together.

I don't think that either of rph2go or Sam are right in this instance. "One" (ie any individual) gets their sense of right and wrong from the people around them. If they were completely isolated from society, individuals would be completely amoral. I don't think that it is possible to prove this, but I certainly do not believe that we just "develop" a sense of right and wrong innately.
