I've got nothing against a second language, but if you really want to learn it you'll need more than an hour a day surrounded by people who don't care.

Being in Canada I would disagree as it is our second official language.

I learned a great deal in French class. Namely, how to speak French. It helped in France, anyway.

In America, they don't start teaching a second language until High School, which is too late. The best time to teach a second language is in grade school.
