Why do people hate police?

Being a police officer I treat people with the respect that is given to me. I often put my life in danger to protect the citizens. I do not understand why police are the most hated people.

Because people break the law!

If you didn't break the law, you wouldn't hate the police. The only time they hassle me is when I'm doing something wrong.

Some people hate police, some fear them, others respect them. I don't think about them too much unless I'm going 90mph in my G35 -- in which case I'm thinking very intently about them.
