In general would you say people have stopped thinking for themselves?

Right now there are several large topics whose explanation defies reason. It may be that I am completely alone but lately the explanation given for major events seem to get lazier and lazier.....perhaps because we question less and less? I know just in my small circle I am in the minority for even questioning anything I'm told. Are we there?....where anything we are told is the truth without any investigation. I sure hope I'm not alone.
