I'm Lucky, this is one of the crossed i don't have to bare, but i sympathise with those that do
What i think helps me..
-I eat reasonably healthy going easy on the little things that add up like butter, full fat milk,
I don't keep chocolate at home but i do keep lots of drinking chocolate as substitute when i get that urge
-Don't play video games, may sound boring but i love been outdoors even if it's just going for a walk or a hike, i find getting out among nature & just putting one foot in front of the other is good for the mind also.
-Don't watch a lot of sport on TV but i think if you can experiment to find a sport you love, you'll have a much better chance of keeping it up long term than making use of your gym membership, i'm 37 in reasonably good shape & never use a gym.
My personal Sports/Hobbies that i have found really helpful are Windsurfing, Climbing, sea & river kayaking.
