Hi, this my 1st answer in my 1st group, & I don't think this is a quick answer, voting-type forum, so I'll just say this: I am a recovering alcoholic, w/ almost 15 months sober, & this disease is TRULY insidious & deadly. I've seen it kill, and I've seen it destroy. It almost did both to me. Some will say, "No, YOU did all that to yourself.", but I know that's not so. Look, I have no scientific data, surveys, or studies to present. The only case studies I'm familiar with are mine, and those of others in recovery. I have a mental obsession combined with a physical compulsion, & I always will. I AM granted a 'daily reprieve contingent on my spiritual condition', meaning I have to be honest, open-minded, & willing to do what's suggested to me by others in recovery. I have to change my way of thinking, & in turn how I behave... I'm sorry, I've gone on far too long, & I'm not even sure I answered the topic in the correct format! I know of two former Alcoholics that have managed to kick the habit and have been sober now for more than eight years. Both drink several 100ml can's of a well known stimulant drink per day and swore it's what made it possible for them to get through!!
Many people on Alcohol seem to get an energy boost from it. Depression & energy levels often go hand in hand.
Might it even be possible that there are links here between Alcoholism, Depression & Stimulant drinks?
Has anyone else heard of stimulant drinks being used in this way. [show less]
