Never had a room-mate, but I lived in a few shared houses. Towards the end there was always bad blood between each and every one of us.
It took a couple of years, but slowly all of us who had shared a house started to feel less murderous towards each other and eventually we actually became friends again.
Just now we know to ignore certain aspects of each others habits.. and to never live together ever again.
