[show more] Its going to be vague since this is some current research of mine, but... There were some guys years ago... I think it was like 1974 perhaps earlier (the year could be TOTALLY WRONG). These guys lost control of the election process... their influence was usurped by the popular vote somehow. They wanted a certain guy as a candidate. They wanted him to win the presidency. "Their Guy" didn't even make it to candidacy. To assure that this wound never happen again. They created a group called the "Super-Delegates".
