you're going to have to clarify here. do you mean what purpose did the pyramids server? it's pretty obvious that they were tombs for pharaohs.

Pyramids being tombs for pharaohs is quite clear to me also for the most part. But why THAT shape not ONLY in Egypt? It could have been ANYTHING a circle, square, pentagon. Why all the shafts? Why all the work for a tomb? Why feel the need to align it to the poles? Questions, questions. I'm not sure they are all separate topics either.

goliath, you seem to be operating under the mistaken impression that the great pyramid at Giza is the only pyramid. just because one example does not obviously conform to the other examples does not discredit the few dozen other pyramids we have found. your question asks nothing about Giza's pyramid(s) just pyramids in general. i stand by my statement.

I cannot wait until future generations are puzzled over why our culture had so many tall rectangular buildings, on multiple continents!?! what possible purpose could they serve, certainly not offices

I'm going out on a limb here, but perhaps the pyramid shape was so common across cultures is because it was the easiest form to build tall without the use of cranes, its and inclined plane and people like tall shit

I'm thinking that Ancient Egyptians put their best and their brightest towards understanding physics, consciousness, and spirit. Unlike our modern civilization where our best people are utilized to make weapons and sell you sh*t, like washing machines and innovative stain fighting detergent.

Except our modern thinkers know 100% more about consciousness than bronze age savages. They made some great sculpture but they believed all our thinking was done in our hearts and that the brain was useless matter.

Note for the audience:
Right now goliath's knee-jerk response is to defend the heart against the accusations by "big science" and our new fangled medicine against the "ancient wisdom". Is Goliath a fictional stereotype? A man off his meds destined to kill a local policeman whome he's convinced is going to steal his soul? Or just fuckin' with us? You decide.

Yes, a 100% because the egyptians were backward to begin with. Their errors had to be fixed first before progress could be made.

Sure, give me the money and I can have it made to order using physics, engineering, computer programming, and chemistry. Not only can we make a bigger better pyramid but we can do it faster.

Is that really all you got troll? Build a pyramid? You're losing your edge for inciting cynicism and ridicule.

Bullsh*t. You couldn't build it.
AND they didn't have modern equipment.
I've not seen or heard one plausible solution for building a pyramid the way the Ancient Egyptians did.

Then you obviously never watched the history channel. I remember a time when they had the same documentary about building the pyramids on every damn saturday. At least it was a break from WW2 specials.

Oh, and you think it's bullshit that modern man could build a pyramid? You crack me up. Whether I could alone? Of course not, I'm one man and I would need help.

Friar: Where is this pyramid that the history channel documented?

uewebawo: I don't believe the great pyramid was built by slaves. Such precision is clearly a labor of love, and not one of forced labor.
