Does being an atheist make any real positive changes in a person's life or is it all just head games? You can replace atheism with humanism or some other secular philosophy.

Atheism is just the lack of belief in a god. Atheism is not a philosophy, it has no tenets or precepts beyond non-belief. Is that what you are discussing or are you talking about non-theistic philosophies like naturalism, humanism, etc? Just seeking clarification.
How's this? "Are philosophies that involve the lack of belief in a god practical?"
Even though you can be an atheist Buddhist or a christian humanist I understand what your aiming for now.
