Detaining journalists and pre-emptive detaining alledged protesters is the trade mark of oppressive regimes.
That flower girl being pepper sprayed is only the tip of the iceberg, only ONE of the many clear symptoms that the USA is a full on fascist police state.
I for one have mixed feelings regarding the events unfolded around the two political conventions the past weeks, of course I am disgusted by the American government's crack down on protesters and journalists, but at the other hand I see the benefits for human right activists all over the world who fight against American policies enforced upon the rest of the world, like the war on drugs and the war on "terror" (read= war on basic human rights).
Because of the blatant oppression and nazi-like rack down on peaceful protesters and journalist it makes it easier for activists all over the world to fight insane policies like the drugs war, no foreign politician in his right mind can afford it any longer to defend the fascist USA policies, not many politician want to be associated with oppressive and fascist regimes.
The USA just lost the little credibility they had left in the free world and that's a good thing for those who oppose their policies, they just made their own policies un-defensible.
Here in the free world (no I'm NOT talking about America) detaining journalists is the drop which spills the bucket, anyone who didn't realize yet that the USA is ruled by criminally insane sociopaths has woken up now, including politicians who used to defend America and its policies, they now are going to be embarrassed to be associated with USA's policies.
