Keep in mind, the words “Under God” didn’t appear in the Pledge until 1954 (and were added during the height of red scare Mcarthyism). The Pledge itself wasn’t written until 1892. [show less]

The U.S. has been fueling tensions there by encouraging Georgia to align with NATO and suggesting we might defend them.
