Well, they shouldn't be denied, but they shouldn't get priority. As a white male, I have the worst dispostion for job/college opportunities, and it's not fair to the rest of us, white males. Not all white people are more advantaged.
On average, yes they are - By FAR.
Two wrong never make a right. Intentional and public inequality can never stop theoretical private inequality. If all people are equal, then all people should get an equal chance to earn their own way.
this question is open ended enough that there's a lot of "wiggle room" in the issue. perhaps a more restrictive wording of the question would be "Given two equally qualified applicants, should one be given preference due to his race?"
but then i might be interpretting the question in a way other than was intended by thinker.
I think things like this show we need mroe local government support. If government wasn't as centralized, I don't think things like this would be as much of a problem.
This goes back to the old tired example of a paramedic showing up at a car crash. If I were injured in a wreck I would want the best paramedic, not the affirmative action quota medic. I don't care about race, and I think more and more our my generation don't. Race will become a side note in our culture, like hair and eye color. Style and cliches are more noticed than race now.
