Who dichotomizes security clearances for U.S. government agencies? Add Answer

There are several security clearance levels in government agencies. Such as NASA, Department of Defense (DOD), and NSA (National Security Agency). Though a person may have a clearance level of "Top Secret" that clearance is only for the area he/she is working in.

So who compartmentalizes the information? i.e. Who are the overseers that decide who will know what? (Wouldn't those people know just about everything that is secret?)

Do you mean dictates? dichotomizes means to divide into two. Or a more common term using the root word is dichotomy, two contrary concepts.

I mean, who oversees who's going to see what? Someone has to have all the pieces of the puzzle in order to decide who gets to see and know what. (I think.)
