I'm talking the whole kaboodle here - Atmosphere, waitstaff, the musicians they pull in - Where is the best place to see live music in Missoula?

The Badlander

The Badlander is located in the old Ritz, the now defunct JackHammer's location on Ryman in the Palace Hotel. It will be opening soon. It may not be the best venue for seeing live music, but it will certainly cater to a discerning crowd. The folks from Ear Candy sure do have exquisite taste in music and hospitality. Get ready for some memorable moments.

I am looking forward to their opening.

Best of luck to the Badlander!

The University Theater

For sit-down listening, it's the newest, cleanest, largest, nicest-sounding concert space. Not so good when you wanna get outta yer chair & boogie, though.

The Union Club

Good stage, good sound, Delbert and Delores two-stepping, etc... Sometimes wish there was a little more diversity to the music, but I still love the place.

Caras Park

Too bad they don't do concerts there really anymore. I guess too much onlookers seeing for free was too much for the promoters. Didn't seem to hurt the Rollings Stones when the mountain was full of spectators...

The Raven

There is something about this place that is very uncomfortable, and yet the staff is so nice, the sound is good & the floor is great for dancing.

Marshall Mountain

Man, why aren't there more concerts on the mountain? Snowbowl, but even easier is Marshall Mountain.

I remember a great music festival about 5 years ago that was perfect at Marshall. If we can't have Caras Park I say move it up the mountain - no noise complaints!

FYI, the topic picture is of local experimental artist M. Wanz with Poor School's John Niekrasz sitting in on drums @ The Loft on January 06, 2006.
