This may sound a bit weird, but there isn't always one "best" place to get a loan. The better question is to ask what the best student loan is for you.
With private loans you have a couple of different options, so do your research and know whether you want a low interest rate or a deferment plan or whatever. The research can be a little boring in the beginning, but knowing what you want with loans is half the battle. But also make sure you're comparing rates! Different lenders can offer you different options, and you want to make sure you have the best one for you (which is not always the first offer). I rep for http://www.TuitionBids.com a site that lets you apply once and then get offers from up to six different lenders, so ultimately you can have an easier time finding the best loan for you.
Aside from private loans, there's the federal loan route, which works well. Apply for FAFSA to see what your EFC is and what they're willing to give you for loans (and even grants). Unfortunately, government loans don't always cover everything, so be prepared to get supplements from private loans, if need be.
