No I do NOT have to respect him. Respect isn't inherent to any office or position, it is ALWAYS earned.
Well put Holotone. Definitely true
today, Washington DC is filled with folk who are required to interact with the POTUS on the basis most of us in the rest of the country figured out long, long ago: you must retain respect for The Office of the Presidency, even though the individual currently occupying the office is a liar, a coward, and a fool.
Again, respect is EARNED, not inherent. There is never a circumstance where a person deserves respect simply because they hold a particular position.
