Should we have KBGA family time?
(public topic in KBGA Collective)

A monthly meeting with no agenda or leader intended only to introduce new DJ's to old DJ's and better aquiant DJ's with KBGA staff.

If so...

I can see this event as only helping out the DJ meetings by encouraging people to get involved in KBGA.
Family time cannot fill the niche of DJ meetings because there will be no structure. Therefore, its only purpose is to fill in the ever sparse and half-hearted sense of community.

i think there is a sense of community at kbga already, in that we're all part of it and we're all working toward the same goal. a community means having everyone participate in the ventures of that community, support each other in times of need, try and help as much as we possibly can in times of need, etc.

i guess in my opinion this family time thing is more of a chance for people to hang out together as friends, which we all are on some level because of the community we have here at kbga, and i think that if people wanted to hang out together socially, it would already have happened/is going to happen. i'm not against the idea of family time, but i think it's going to be very hard to find something to do that will accomodate so many schedules, personalities and interests. that's another amazing part of the kbga community, that we have such a diverse group of people who care so much about the same thing. i guess i consider it a community already.

We are definitely a community already. But we haven't had a good DJ meeting in a while and I'm starting to feel a little disconnected from the DJ's.
Most of us are friends because of KBGA and I wouldn't have it any other way. You guys have made me such a better person and I get all stupid and mushy inside when I start to think about it.

A lot of us do hang out together. But, I want a chance to invite other who aren't yet connected with KBGA, really just the new DJ's and old DJ's who have been too shy in the past to make any connections.

It is impossible to get everyone together at once, duh. But I'm going to try anyway and just see what happens.

Besides, since we aren't having a DJ meeting this month and next month is my LAST month in Missoula, I at least want to see the shining, smily faces of KBGA together again.

okay. i get that. it would have been pointless to have a meeting two weeks before the december meeting because then there would be even less to talk about. i think the meetings are good without a giant agenda list because then you guys can bring what you want to talk about to the table and we aren't just sitting there telling you what we do the entire time. it's going to be a good meeting next month i think.

just as an aside, we are looking for a PD again so if anyone is interested, let jamie know or come pick up an app in the office. it would be awesome to have someone already involved be the PD, especially someone who is going to be around next year since so much of the staff is graduating this year.

yes unfortunately the turnover rate for that job has been crazy ridiculous these days. it's okay, though, we'll all plow through.

Shore, I guess. Can we be dysfunctional at it like when we are at the office? I could only hope.
