it has many health benifits and it can also help prolong and even cure some diseases
I am a strong advocate for medical marijuana, but for clarification, what diseases can it cure?
Skrrrriti, A medicine does not need to "cure" diseases to be approved as a medicine, there are numerous medicines on the market that do not cure diseases. Cannabis eases the symptoms or pain as many other medicines do. According to the statistics, it does it safer than other approved medicines like Aspirin for example which has 300 to 500 reported deaths per year.
Myself I'm Dutch and live in Amsterdam and have no legal problems whatsoever because of any Cannabis use whether it is medicinal or recreational/spiritual and I'm quite happy with that. I couldn't imagine what it's like to be labelled a criminal for something that's legal and natural.
I know all of this, especially concerning its safety, I just want to make sure there are no misconceptions, relief does not equal cure
I myself have family members who use this for very bad conditions, and I would never deny them their medicine, I have seen amazing management of their conditions because of marijuana.
My family lived in Den Haag for a while (as did I), and I admire the Dutch for their sensible policies towards marijuana.
and I admire the state of Montana for their sensible decision regarding medical marijuana, if only the feds could do the same...
the only reason Marijuana is illegal is because when Prohibition was repealed the Director of the ATF ( it was another name then, don't recall off the top of my head) had his budget reduced to a fraction of what it had been. With the Cotton, Tobacco, and Alcohol industries lobbying with him, he went to congress and spoke for 15 minutes about a guy who killed his whole family with an axe and blamed it on being "high" and said tht when women smoked marijuana they slept with black men. And that is how hemp and marijuana became illegal in this country. (well, in nutshell anyway). The AMA tried to talk about the health benefits of marijuana and were basically told to keep quiet about it.
