Why only create US-oriented topics ? ;-)
Here here!
By the way, do you have a link to a news story about this? I'd like some details.
I tried. Not easy to find in english. I added them to the topic.
How quickly polls devolve into madness. First a negative anti-answer and now biased proto-answers. Can't someone just say Ségolène Royal?
I know, answering provocation is not a good idea, but I was a bit tensed. If you guys just want remain between americans, just say it, it's not a problem for me.
We have Grupies from all over the world. You may be our first regular from France. All questions are welcome. Speaking from experience, it's best not to get upset over polls OR ignorance of the topic at hand.
It's interesting to me how much anti-American sentiment has been floating around Grupthink lately, considering just how atypical just about every American here actually is. It's quite en vogue to knock Americans right now, especially for our international political policies, but it's important to remember, we're just people. We're just as powerless as the rest of the world is to The Madness of King George.
George Bush was elected by a VERY narrow margin. It's like having a terrible employee on your payroll. We're all generally dissatisfied with his job performance but we can't fire him outright, so we're just looking for an excuse. If that guy is late to work one more time, he's so fired. Bush is hardly representative of all Americans and neither is Grupthink. Most of us are probably on somebody's watchlist for our consistent anti-American behavior.
I didn't vote in this poll because I don't really know who should run your country anymore than I do my own. I know Chirac has had a *massive* impact on France and the world, and it seems that whoever comes next is going to have some VERY big shoes to fill. With the whole world in such a delicate place right now, it's a rough time to elect a new president, but I'm sure France succeed in a smooth transfer of power.
Forgive my interminable ramble.
Vote Ségolène Royal in 2007!
What patrick said ^. Thanks for sharing - Even though I am not familiar enough with the subject to offer any educated input, it's always good to see non-US-centric topics around these parts.
I agree with Patrick and Holotone. There are thousands of great things about the U.S. and for that matter France, but the U.S. oriented topics posted lately are built around slamming American foreign policy and frankly, to us, its gets old.
Vive la France! Vive les Etats-Unis!
Old ? It will maybe begin to get old when it's finished...
