What do you want in your dream home? Add Answer

Since I'm sort of looking at houses right now, I thought I would make a list of the things that I'm looking for ( I have a tendency to forget). Then I thought, "Why don't I make a Grupthink question out of it?" So here it is. What things turn a house into your dream home?

I'd like to be able to keep my windows open, without feeling like I'm putting on a show for the neighborhood. In fact, I should be able to run around naked anywhere on my property without risking arrest.

Solar panels / solar power.

My dream home would run entirely on solar power. Somehow. I'm not a solar-power person, I majored in English, so someone else would need to make it happen. So in my dream home there'd be lots of money for me to pay my solar-power contractor person.

A library

A big, but still cozy library -- with a fireplace, plants, one of those ladders that slide along the shelves on the walls, and lots of natural light. ...And, of course, big cozy chairs.

Huge yard

Not sure if this is for me, because I really dislike lawn maintenance. Still, it would be kind of nice to have enough space to play catch.

A big garden

With lots of different areas, that are cunningly blended together - open space, sculpture, interesting plants, and water features. And, what the hell, throw in a gardener to do the maintenance, while we're at it.

Yes, anti-bush encryption. But we all know he'll just take you in the middle of the night if he can't listen to you.

Heh, anti-bush security system... that's tough.

Hang a Twinkie on a string above your door, and every time he reaches for it have a mechanism pull it away. It'll keep him distracted long enough to release attack dogs to take care of the problem.
