I used to live in Washington DC. The Christian Right marches on Washington once a month to end abortion (50,000+). The NAACP, The ACLU, right wingers, left wingers. The only thing that happens is that it blocks traffic and annoys the hell out of commuters. So why not motivate 5 Million or 10 Million? Even if you could organize those kinds of numbers, what then? Bush looks out the Oval Office window and says, "Maybe they're right. I've seen the error in my ways." Not gonna happen. The Vietnam War didn't end until the mid seventies, well after the peace movement lost its numbers and people had *stopped* marching...

If the question is really, "Why don't we have a bloodless coup?" Then why doesn't everyone? Tony Blair is every bit the fascist Thatcher was, he's just not as obvious about it. Bush is every bit the fascist Reagan was, he's just MORE obvious about it.
