I wanted to pay homage today to one of my personal faves of an actor, Mr. Gary Oldman. As you have seen from his films, the man is The Master of Eccentricities, Accents & Famous Characters.
Gary Oldman has in his brilliant career thus far played Sid Vicious, Dracula, Ludwig van Beethoven, Lee Harvey Oswald, James Gordon, Dr. Zachary Smith, Rosencrantz, Sirius Black, Pontius Pilate, and the Devil. He has also played many villains, including a pimp, a disfigured paedophile, a futuristic megacorp tyrant, a corrupt DEA officer, a sadistic prison warden, a Russian terrorist, and a violent football hooligan.
He is currently working on 2 new movies for 2007 & 2008: the new Harry Potter Film and the new Batman Movie.
So, with all of that in mind, share with the Grup, your favorite film role for Mr. Oldman.

"Homage" is exactly the right word. Oldman is absurdly flexible in the roles he plays.
Compared to other "top" actors, who play the same basic character type in every single movie they're in (basically playing themselves), Oldman stands head and shoulders above the crowd. The guy's incredible.
Totally agree. I love the chameleon that he becomes in each role (no cookie cutter acting stints for him). He was even hilarious on Friends as the actor who kept spitting at Joey.
His role as Rosencrantz was (in my opion) top dog... iIt just goes to show what a good comady actor he is. However I do not think Sirius Black was a good role for him. It was not who I saw when I read the book.
Great topic, Q!
Thank you sir, I appreciate it!
