Carl Orff - Carmina Burana, "O Fortuna"

Hollywood's favorite medieval cantata. You know this piece. It's a choral composition used in *everything.* Glory, The Doors, Natural Born Killers, Jackass and Epic Movie.

It's so ubiquitous, it has it's own entry in wikipedia, Orff's Carmina Burana in popular culture:

Joe Cocker - "Feelin' Alright"

What "I Feel Good" was to the 90's, Joe Cocker's "Feeling Alright" is to the '00's. And like "I Feel Good," "Feelin' Alright" is used to indicate that a character is, well, feelin' alright...

Pfeifer Broz - DNA Reactor

Seen in every trailer which tries to show audiences that the movie it is promoting is the most dramatic, action-packed movie to ever exist. Ever. You know the song, even if you don't know it by name. Just go to a movie theatre, and chances are very much in your favor that this song will be featured in at least one of the trailers you see. You might recognize it from: The Mummy 3 trailer, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, etc., etc.

Lux Aeterna (Requiem for a Dream)

The theme from Requiem for a Dream has been redone and remixed for a ton of trailers, most noticably for the Lord of the Rings:The Two Towers trailer.

"Clubbed To Death (Kurayamino Mix)" By Rob Dougan

That one song from the Matrix soundtrack. It seemed like everyone used that song. Not just movies but commercials too.

Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) Jeff Buckley's cover version

A fine song (particularly John Cale's version for I'm Your Fan and on Fragments of a Rainy Season) which has become a byword for poignant early death, and a staple of sad endings - from Shrek (Cale) Basquiat, A Lot Like Love, Lord of War and When Night is Falling, and TV: House, M.D., Falcon Beach, The L Word, The O.C. (twice by Jeff Buckley, once by Imogen Heap), The West Wing, Scrubs, Without a Trace, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, ER, The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Crossing Jordan, Ugly Betty, Numb3rs
