Should I Quit My Job?

I have been working at a local real estate agency doing community association management for a year in July. I currently work with my mother which isn't the worst of it, that part actually isn't too terribly bad.

What I can't stand is that nobody here gives a crap about anything. They bitch and moan about everything. I've tried to integrate Basecamp into what I do because it helps a lot with management and one of the associations would rather go back to e-mail correspondence.

We go through paper like it grows on trees.

Our 'server' is a Windows 98 machine that crashes frequently (I hadn't seen a blue screen in a few years before working here).

Filing!? You want me to spend hours filing papers!?

There's no long term memory for the phone system so when the power goes out every phone needs to be programmed individually.

The owner/tenant database is outdated and wont integrate with any office applications so addresses for mass mailings (stupid in themselves) have to be printed out on labels and applied by hand.

There is a cartoon on the wall with two guys sitting back in their chairs and the caption is 'Next week we've GOT to get organized'. Seriously.

I already know the answer, just felt like venting.

I have a ton of ideas for businesses I could start, just never done it before and I'm a little scared.

Ugh...too many small companies out there think they'll save money by having a DIY computer system, and this is always the result. All these companies would be stunned with the increased productivity if they bucked up and payed a moderately competent IT guy to get things into the new mellenium.
