Twitter's for all those random, disjointed thoughts you have

that wouldn't make a full blog entry.

I used to very much when I was young.

Now that I am jaded and middle-aged, I find little occasion to giggle.

Yes. Constantly. It has overtaken RSS, Facebook, et al.

I find Twitter incredibly useful and addictive now. A big part of my enjoyment of Twitter is that I'm picky about who I follow and I ignore trending topics. (BTW, I'm now tweeting on behalf of @Grupthink.) Follow me:

Hey-- I found a use for twitter! So, I'm twittering all my random thoughts as they occur to me, instead of loading down holotone and happythawts with real-live expensive texts!
Wow! I think Twitter may be great!

Oh, so that's why it's useful. Okay, then, that makes sense.

Ah, alles klar. (looked at Pol's linked article) A culture to which I'm only tangentially attached. Quotes:

'It might seem like blogging taken to a supremely banal extreme. Productivity guru Tim Ferriss calls Twitter "pointless email on steroids." '
'Individually, most Twitter messages are stupefyingly trivial.' etc.

But it seems to me that as we continue to time-slice our activities at higher frequencies, Twitter probably has a bright future.

Some of the comments and answers on this topic are funny in retrospect. Have any of you changed your opinion of Twitter in the last 2-3 years?
