Wow. I've been parking along the Blackfoot River for years - no problems. (other than the mess at Johnsrud)
While I appreciate the efforts to clean-up, protect, and curb over-usage on the Blackfoot River, I don't appreciate the $85 parking ticket I received on the 4th of July.
What do you think? Should I contest this ticket in court? Does anyone have experience contesting a ticket in Missoula Justice Court?

Its a county ticket? So you wouldn't go before Judge Louden?
well, worth a try anyhow. I have had all my tickets I contested cut in half at least. But that was Louden.
Not Louden. Odlin.
The ticket was written by Fish, Wildlife, and Parks for Missoula Justice Court.
I would contest it is worth a try Would you mind telling us exactly where you were parked so we don't make the same mistake. Also does anyone know if it is true that the Bonner Cliff ( the rock just as you make the first corner out of Bonner is fenced off so you can no longer get out of the river in that area when you float?
Sunset Hill river access.
There are only 3 parking spots at the access, but evidently there is overflow parking 1/3 mile up the road.
Since the 3 parking spots were taken, and we didn't know about the overflow parking, we parked along the side of the road. (There is a decent size shoulder)
Where I parked I did see a sign for "unloading zone only, 20 minute max" so I made sure to move down about 20 yards from the signs. I was ticketed.
My buddy tried parking along the side of the road about 100 yards away. He got a ticket, too.
So, this is interesting. The plot thickens.
I went back to the river access where I was ticketed to gather evidence in the form of pictures. I get to the same spot my car was at - there's a new parking sign!
So, I guess now I have the added burden of trying to somehow prove that this sign did not exist when I parked there! Because my picture evidence sure makes me look guilty as hell!
What now? I guess the good news is that a newly posted sign sure acknowledges some sort of signage deficiency at the site.
