Hard Drives with the best failure rate?

I want to expand my storage, but am looking for the most reliable hard drives.

A low failure rate is no guarantee of no failure -- ALWAYS BACKUP your most critical data and irreplacable files (e.g., to CD/DVDs). I consider 5 years a decent lifetime for a HD, my expectations are lower for laptop components.
These drives are actually for my backup server, ironically. But if I'm going to invest 600 bucks on space, I'd like it to be for as long as possible.
If you're going to invest $600, you might be better off getting a RAIDed NAS or external drive. Terabyte USB drives are coming down in price!
